I want to thank you for sharing your anchor charts!!!!! They are great and I want to use them with my third grade students! Hope you do not mind! send more!
We would love to share a copy of the anchor chart form with you. Above is my email address, just send me a message with your request and we will send it.
I am wanting to revamp the way I teach math this year! I'm so glad you have posted your journey in teaching math through a workshop rather than whole-group instruction! I look forward to "borrowing" your ideas! Keep up the great work! Is there anyway you can post some of the forms you use on the website or send them to me?
Thank you for reading our blog! There are some materials available throughout the blog for you to use. If you would like anything else please send me your email address and I will be happy to send it to you!
Do you have an email subscription? I would love to be able to follow more closely. I hope to use Math Workshop this year and I find your blogs very helpful. :)

I am a 19 year veteran and have a 4th/5th Spanish Bilingual classroom this year. After "discovering" your site on Pinterest I am hooked! Thank you SO MUCH for all of the wonderful ideas that you post. Your fabulous ideas help keep me fresh (don't want to become a crusty, ole' teacher!). Keep up the fantastic work!
Help!!! My new math program requires me to teach compatible/comparable numbers. For example 484 is approximately 450 and 232 is approximately 225. So instead of adding 484 and 232, you find the compatible numbers and add them. This is our first year with Common Core. My students have trouble rounding let alone doing this. PLEASE help. Any ideas you could give would be awesome!! Thanks, LuAnn
I can imagine the difficulty of teaching that concept. We are teaching estimation soon and that is a skill alone that takes some time to master. I would teach a whole class lesson on compatible numbers, create an anchor chart, do some whole class practice on slates, and give the students a pre-test. Then do workshop stations throughout the week that support the skill and differentiate each station for your groups so that you are scaffolding the students' learning. Then give a post-test on Friday to see how they did. If necessary, spend another week on the skill. Later in the year, I would then spend a week comparing and contrasting compatible numbers and estimation so that students know the difference. We do this for area and perimeter in 3rd grade because students seem to confuse them. Let us know how your lessons go!
Thank you for reading our blog! As of now we do not have a teachers pay teachers account. I would be happy to send you any documents you would like. Just send me your email address.
I love your blog, especially the anchor charts and the graphic organizers. Do you happen to have copies of your graphic organizers on like teacherspayteachers or something like that? Or could you send them to me? Thanks so much! I would really love to use those in my classroom.
I am a Mathematics teacher and blogger, and I want to thank you for creating such an interesting Mathematics blog. Your ideas and material will be of great help for me :)
Would you mind sharing your student graphic organizers for multiplication and division? I just stumbled upon your blog and love all of your ideas. Thank you! My email is mthorson@cpps.org
Erik, Thank you so much for reading our blog and sending others to it! We are doing great! We have not blogged as often this year for a few reasons. We have kept most everything the same with our workshop approach. We are teaching the CCSS and the structure is the same. Chloe moved to Ohio this past summer with her husband who is in his residency. She is pursuing her doctorate degree. We hope to blog again this upcoming year as we begin a new math curriculum. Tabitha
Love your blog! Could you share copies of the graphic organizers for the math journal? Also, how long did you practice with kiddos before they really had it down so it would run smoothly? Have a great rest of your summer! my email is bekay76@hotmail.com
Thank you for reading our blog! You can find our templates and resources at our Teachers Pay Teachers Store (http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Math-Workshop-Adventures). We take the first few weeks of school building up the routines and procedures in math workshop before we fully dive into the curriculum. We teach the routines and procedures as we practice review skills from previous grades and then move to 3rd grade CCSS. Tabitha
Would you be willing to share your year long curriculum calendar. I do love that you use a variety of techniques for teaching math. I have a difficult time sticking with a textbook curriculum. I would love to see how you lay out your 3rd grade year.
